ChatBlocker Frequently Asked Questions
The following questions are the most
common questions the support team receives regarding ChatBlocker. If your
question is not answered, feel free to contact the support team, and they
will get back to you within 12-48 hours!
1. I run ChatBlocker, but nothing happens. What's
wrong?
If you run the ChatBlocker.exe module, and find that no
program executes, it is VERY likely that you have configured ChatBlocker
to run in total stealth mode upon activation. To take ChatBlocker out of
stealth mode, you will need to simultaneously press the correct key
sequence to bring ChatBlocker out of stealth mode. This key sequence is as
follows: Ctrl / Shift / Alt / F8
2. I can not rename ChatBlocker! What is wrong?
This simply means that you cannot rename ChatBlocker.exe
because it is running already. To stop ChatBlocker from running, you will
have to manually close it. To do this, simply end the monitoring process
and hit the "X" on the main ChatBlocker interface window. Once you have
closed ChatBlocker, you can freely rename the ChatBlocker.exe module
without receiving any errors!
3. I press the hotkey sequence to remove ChatBlocker
from stealth mode, but nothing happens. Why?
If nothing occurs when you press the appropriate hotkey
to remove ChatBlocker from stealth mode (Ctrl / Shift / Alt / F8). This
means that ChatBlocker is not running in stealth mode, or ChatBlocker is
not monitoring your machine. If this is the case, ensure ChatBlocker is
running, and if it is, but not in stealth mode, simply click the
ChatBlocker icon on your system tray (near the clock) to bring up the main
ChatBlocker control panel.
Note: Ctrl / Shift / Alt / F8 will NOT work if you have
changed the stealth mode HotKey inside the ChatBlocker Preferences window.
If you have changed the default HotKey, you will need to press that hotkey
instead of Ctrl / Shift / Alt / F8.
4. What Operating Systems is ChatBlocker compatible
with?
ChatBlocker will work across all Windows platforms. This
includes Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP!
5. Which Instant Message Platforms does ChatBlocker
support?
ChatBlocker will record and block chat and Instant
Message conversations for ALL of the following chat platforms:
AOL Instant Messenger
America Online
ICQ 2000/2001
Yahoo Messenger
MSN Messenger
6. Why isn't ChatBlocker recording any of my instant
messages?
If ChatBlocker is NOT recording chats and instant
messages, ensure that you have enabled this feature under the Logging tab
inside the General Configuration screen. Also, double check to make sure
that the software for the chat platform you wish to monitor is up to date.
If this chat software is an older build, ChatBlocker may not be able to
monitor the instant messages/chats correctly.
7. I am not receiving the ChatBlocker logs via e-mail.
What's wrong?
If you are not receiving your e-mail delivery logs, you
may have specified the wrong SMTP Host inside the SMTP Mail Delivery
configuration screen, or you mis-typed your e-mail address. Double check
your SMTP Mail Settings inside ChatBlocker, and if the problem persists,
you may need to consult your system administrator or ISP for your SMTP
Host.
Tip: To find out exactly what is going wrong and
why you are not receiving e-mail delivery logs, perform a Test/Simulate
E-mail Delivery. If the test e-mail fails, you can view the exact error of
what is going on and how to fix it!
8. I choose to install ChatBlocker without an UnInstaller and now I want
to uninstall ChatBlocker. How can I go about doing this?
If you installed ChatBlocker without an uninstaller, you
can simply locate the ChatBlocker files in Windows Explorer and delete
them manually. To ensure the files are completely deleted, make sure
ChatBlocker is NOT running.
